Hunter and the Fox is a Melbourne ceramics studio founded by ceramicist Emma Wilson in 2015. What began as a love of creating beautiful, functional objects by hand has grown into a collection of handmade ceramics and creative pottery experiences for teams across Melbourne.

The Hunter and the Fox story

Hunter and the Fox began in 2015 after Emma returned to Australia following several years living in Europe. After years working in retail and a growing desire to create something of her own, she took the leap and started the brand.

More than a decade later, ceramics remains at the heart of Hunter and the Fox. Emma designs and creates pieces by hand in Melbourne, embracing the small variations in form, texture and glaze that make handmade pottery different from something produced on a factory line.

The collection has evolved over the years, but the idea behind it remains simple: to make objects that are beautiful, useful and enjoyable to live with.

Each Hunter and the Fox ceramic piece is made in small batches in Melbourne. From cups and mugs to bowls, vases and one-off pieces, Emma’s work combines simple forms, tactile finishes and the character that comes from making something by hand.

No two handmade pieces are ever completely identical — and that’s part of their appeal.

Sharing a Love of Pottery Through Melbourne Workshops

Emma’s passion for ceramics has always gone beyond making her own work. Having taught ceramics for many years, she loves helping people discover what can happen when they slow down, get their hands into clay and create something for themselves.

For Emma, pottery is as much about the experience as the finished piece. Working with clay gives people a chance to switch off from the usual distractions, focus on something tactile and creative, and enjoy the satisfaction of making something by hand. It’s something she believes everyone can benefit from, regardless of whether they’ve ever touched clay before.

That passion for teaching and sharing ceramics naturally grew into Hunter and the Fox’s corporate pottery workshops in Melbourne. Emma and her team now bring relaxed, hands-on pottery experiences directly to workplaces and venues, giving colleagues an opportunity to create together, learn something new and connect outside their usual working environment.
